Arhar dal (pigeon pea / red gram) is a high-protein legume staple across India. We're growing UPAS-120, an early-maturing variety that fits our kharif season.
Arhar is a nitrogen-fixing crop that improves soil health for subsequent crops. It requires minimal irrigation, is drought-tolerant, and has guaranteed local market demand.
Growing Process
Sowing: July onset of monsoon, 60×20cm row spacing
No irrigation needed — fully rainfed in our region
One intercultivation at 30 days to control weeds
Harvest: When 80% pods turn brown — November 2024
